Seema Ganatra
University of Alberta

Discipline Area: Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Oral Medicine
Dr. Seema Ganatra graduated from the doctor of dental surgery (DDS) program at the University of Alberta in 1989. She attended a general practice residency program at the Royal University Hospital from 1989-1990 and practiced dentistry on a part time basis in Warman Saskatchewan. She practiced as an associate dentist in Calgary from 1990 to 1992. She attended a specialty program in oral and maxillofacial pathology at Indiana University School of Dentistry and graduated with a certificate in oral pathology in 1995 and a master’s of science in dentistry degree in 1996. She also obtained post-graduate training in oral and maxillofacial radiology at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1998. Seema is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (Oral Pathology) and is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Prior to her appointment at University of Alberta, she had academic appointments at University of Nebraska, University of Pittsburgh and University of Michigan.

She is currently a clinical associate professor at the University of Alberta, School of Dentistry and is involved in teaching of dental and dental hygiene students, patient care (oral medicine and oral pathology consultation service) and participates in the oral pathology biopsy service. She served as the acting head of the Division of Radiology and Diagnosis at the School of Dentistry from 2005 to 2011.
