Obituary/Memoir

Roland Oswell Nissle
Regents' Proceedings 670

In the death at age fifty-four of Roland O. Nissle, D.D.S., Professor of Dentistry, his School, his students, and his city mourn his loss. A native and lifelong resident of Ann Arbor, Dr. Nissle earned the D.D.S. degree at The University of Michigan in 1929, and in the same year became Instructor in the School of Dentistry and established his own practice. He continued with marked success in both fields until 1950, when he relinquished his private practice to devote all of his energies to the teaching of Oral Diagnosis. He developed this field into a strong curriculum for undergraduates. His maturity, his wide experience, and his kindly manner won for him the respect and affection of students and teachers. The Regents of the University express their deep sympathy to Dr. Nissle's family and mourn his death with them and with his many friends.
