Otto Charles Glaser

Otto Charles Glaser, who becomes
 Assistant Professor of Zoology this 
year, was born in 1880 at Wiesbaden, 
 Germany, of German-French parentage. His parents, however, removed 
to America when he was very young; 
 and he received his early education
 in private schools of Baltimore and
 vicinity, spending the two years, 1894-
96, in the Baltimore City College.

He
 was graduated from the Johns Hop
kins University in 1900, receiving the
 degree of A. B. The four years fol
lowing were spent in graduate work, 
at Johns Hopkins, where he received 
his Doctor's degree in 1904 in the
 subjects of zoology, physiology and
 botany. From 1902 to 1904 he was 
Johns Hopkins University scholar, receiving the Bruce fellowship the fol
lowing year. While a graduate stu
dent at Johns Hopkins he was also as
sistant in oyster culture in the United
 States Bureau of Fisheries for one
 year, and in 1903-04 he was the marine biologist of the Gulf Biologic Station. He was also demonstrator in 
embryology, comparative anatomy, 
 and biology in the College of Physi
cians and Surgeons, Baltimore, from
 1901 to 1903.

During the summers of
 1905-07 he was instructor in the Mar
ine Biological Laboratory at Wood's
 Hole, Mass. He came to the University in 1905 as instructor in zoology. 
He has written a number of articles 
published in various scientific journals, 
and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, 
 Sigma Xi, American Association for 
the Advancement of Science, Ameri
can Society of Zoologists, Society for
 Experimental Biology and Medicine, 
 The Michigan Academy of Science, 
 The University of Michigan Research 
Club, and the Marine Biological Lab
oratory.
