Instructor in Nursing (Psychiatric/ Neuropsychiatric Nursing), University of Michigan School of Nursing, 1958-1961. Karinen resigned from this position effective March 24, 1961.

Karinen was born in 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan and died in Canton, Michigan in 1993 at age 60.
