The death of Dr. James Barkley Pollock, Professor Emeritus of Botany (R.P. 1929-1932, page 832), on June 29, 1934, was reported to the Board. The following statement and resolution were adopted:
Dr. Pollock was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (B.S., '93, M.S., '96), and received the degree of Sc.D. from this University in 1897. He became an assistant in the Botany Department from 1895 to 1897, and in 1898 after a year's study at Leipzig was appointed instructor in botany, since which time he was continuously in service, becoming professor in 1925. He retired March 1, 1932, on account of his age and health.
Resolved, That the Regents of the University of Michigan have learned with deep regret of the death of the late Professor Emeritus James Barkley Pollock, for thirty-six years a member of the Department of Botany, whose services during that time were at once of great value to this institution and honorable to himself; and further,
Resolved, That they hereby express to Professor Pollock's family their sincere sympathy.
