Harley Harris Bartlett, who comes to the University as Acting Assistant Professor of Botany in place of Professor Hus, was born March 9, 1886, at Anaconda, Mont. He received the degree of A.B. from Harvard in 1908, acting as assistant in the Gray Herbarium of Harvard University from 1905 to 1907. From 1909 to 1915 he was chemical biologist in the Bureau of Plant Industry, U. S. Department of Agriculture.
Professor Bartlett has written numerous technical articles for various botanical journals, the most important dealing with the origin of new forms by mutation. He is secretary of the Botanical Society of America and a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Botany.
Professor Bartlett is not married.
