Attended St. Mary’s Academy, Monroe, Michigan; diploma, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing, Boston, 1917; attended Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri; attended Detroit College of Medicine and Surgery, two years.

Assistant Director of the Educational Department, University of Michigan Hospital School for Nurses, Ann Arbor, 1919-1920; Instructor in Nursing, ibid., 1920-1921.

Associated at some point with Nursery and Child’s Hospital, New York City, and Grant Hospital, Chicago. At the time of her marriage in 1924 Hartshorn was listed as a resident of Chicago.

Floor Superintendent, Grace Hospital, Detroit, 1941 for six months; Superintendent of Nurses, Alpena General Hospital, Alpena, Michigan, appointed July 1941; Director of Nursing, Columbus City Hospital, Columbus, Georgia; Principal, Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, Canton, Ohio, appointed January 1944; Director of Nursing, Vallejo Community Hospital, Vallejo, California; Superintendent of Genesee Memorial Hospital, Batavia, New York, appointed April 1947; Administrator, Hubbard Hospital, Bad Axe, Michigan, July 1947. Hartshorn died in August 1947 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
