Diploma, University of Michigan School of Nursing, 1939; two years, Ohio Wesleyan University.

Staff Nurse and Head Nurse, University Hospital. Assistant Instructor in General Surgical Nursing, University of Michigan School of Nursing, 1941-1942. Starting in 1943, Bain worked with the student nurse health program and assisted in nursing administration.
