Elizabeth Ann Maly Tyree, M.P.H., R.N., Assistant Professor of Nursing

At the University of Michigan, Tyree was known as Elizabeth A. Maly. She taught in the pediatric nurse practitioner program under co-directors Barbara A. Sachs, M.S.N., R.N., and Ruth H. Strang, M.D.
Subsequently, Tyree was Clinical Associate Professor and Chair, Family Community Nursing, University of North Dakota College of Nursing, Grand Forks, North Dakota. In the 1990s, while at the University of North Dakota, she served a four-year term on the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice.
A member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) since 1991, Tyree was honored with the Sigma Theta Tau Region 2 Mentor Award and the Eta Upsilon Chapter Caring Award. In 2003 Tyree was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society. Tyree’s doctoral dissertation was titled “Culture Care Values, Beliefs and Practices Observed in Empowerment of American Indian Community Health Representatives (Loyola, 2007).
Born in 1945, Tyree graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1963.
