The Faculty History Project documents faculty members who have been associated with the University of Michigan since 1837. Key in this effort is to celebrate the intellectual life of the University. This Faculty History Website is intended as a component of the effort to document the extraordinary academic achievements of Michigan’s faculty in building and sustaining one of the world’s great universities. It provides access to a comprehensive database of information concerning the thousands of faculty members who have served the University of Michigan.

Daryl R. Kipke, PhD., President
Dr. Kipke is an internationally recognized expert in neurotechnology and biomedical engineering. He served as CEO/Founder of NeuroNexus from its initial spinout from the University of Michigan in 2004 to its acquisition by Greatbatch, Inc. in 2012. Dr. Kipke also holds the position of Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan and directs a leading academic research program in neural engineering, neuroprostheses, and biomaterials. Previously, Dr. Kipke co-founded and served as CSO and Board Member for Neural Intervention Technologies, Inc., which spun out from the University of Michigan in 2001 and was acquired by W.L. Gore, Inc. in 2006. Dr. Kipke is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and serves on several institutional advisory boards in biomedical engineering and neurotechnology.
