Calvin Olin Davis, who has just become Assistant Professor of Edu cation and Inspector of Schools, was born at Macomb, Mich., Feb. 5, 1871. He was graduated from the Utica, Mich. High School in 1890, and af ter teaching one year, entered the University of Michigan from which he was graduated with the degree of A. B. in 1895.
Immediately upon grad uation he became teacher of mathematics in the South Bend, Ind. High School, where he a little later became head of the department of history, and assistant principal. He became prin cipal of the high school early in 1905. Mr. Davis received the degree of A. M. from the University in 1904. He is a member of the American Histori cal Society.
In 1904 he was married to Miss Winnifred Mack of South Bend, Ind.
